When it comes to your Brex card and its integrity, you’re in control. You can set a PIN on your card to help keep it safe while it’s active. You can also lock, replace, or cancel the card at any time if you suspect it might be compromised, or if you just don’t need it anymore.

Having a PIN for your physical Brex employee card helps to maintain card security, and some merchants may even require that your card has one.

When you activate your physical employee card, you’ll be prompted to create a four-digit PIN. You can also retroactively add a PIN to a card that’s already been activated by following the steps below.



Only physical employee cards can have assigned PINs.

After you add a PIN to your card, you may be asked to enter it more than once when first transacting at a chip-enabled card reader. Between entries, you’ll receive incorrect PIN notifications, but the transaction will go through after three or four attempts. The merchant may then request your signature on the receipt.

There are a few scenarios where you may need to update the information associated with an existing card. Please read the relevant section below to learn what’s possible.

 If you’ve already requested a physical employee card, you’ll see an update when you click the bell icon on the top right. To update the shipping address of a personal card, go to your 

. Click the three dots on your card icon and select 

If you’re an admin, you can change the shipping address of another user’s card in 

You can update the billing address for an entity’s cards by updating the parent company’s 

If you have multiple entities, updating your company address will only update the billing address of the cards (current and future) that fall under the entity.

 Your cardholder name defaults to the user name on your Brex account. To update your name on the card, reach out to Brex Support.

You’ll need to replace your physical employee card to update the name on it.

Locking a card will block transactions from taking place on it. You can lock your own card if you’d like to prevent it from being used or, as an account or card admin, lock the card of one of your employees. Locked cards will be indicated by a locked card icon in the card owner’s 

You can lock or unlock your own card at any time from either your Brex dashboard or your app. Please follow the steps below:



: If your card was locked by an account or card admin, only the account or card admin can unlock the card.

Account and card admins can lock or unlock any cards that belong to other users in the dashboard by following the steps below.



 If an account or card admin locks the card that belongs to an employee or AP clerk, that user won’t be able to unlock their card again without an account or card admin approval.

Account admins, card admins, and cardholders can replace a card, causing the old card to be canceled and a new card to be issued in its place. Account or card admins can also replace cards on behalf of users.

Depending on your replacement reason, you will have the option to keep the same card number, with an updated CVV and expiration date, allowing any recurring expenses to continue to go through.

To replace a card, please follow the steps below.



 Once canceled or expired, you cannot access the old card’s information or credentials from your account. Canceled or expired cards cannot be reactivated.

Follow the instructions below to replace your card for reasons other than the card expiring. Depending on the replacement reason, you will be given the option to keep your existing card number, with an updated expiration date and CVV.

60 days prior to expiration, an email will be sent to inform the cardholder of the upcoming card expiration, and you will be asked to choose the card type, as well as to confirm your shipping address for the new card.



Replacement cards will have the same card number, but new CVV and expiration dates. Any recurring spend will continue without action.

Expiring virtual cards will be replaced automatically. Any recurring spend will continue without action.

As your physical, plastic card nears its expiration date, we’ll ask you to confirm your shipping address for delivery. If you do not confirm your shipping address by the time of expiration, we will automatically replace the card with a virtual card, and you can optionally order a physical card later. Any recurring spend will continue without action.

If you have a physical metal card that’s nearing its expiration date, we’ll ask you to confirm your shipping address for delivery. Any recurring spend will continue without action.

If you do not confirm your shipping address by the time of expiration, we will not replace the card automatically. Please ensure to take action to avoid disruption to your spending.

You can order a physical card for an existing virtual employee card. This is done by following the steps below. Each Brex user can only have one employee card, though you can replace a virtual employee card with a physical employee card.

You can cancel your Brex card at any time, for any reason. By canceling a card, charges can no longer be made to it, including by vendors that have it on file for recurring payments. Canceling a card won’t automatically create a replacement.

Once canceled, a card cannot be reactivated and you can no longer use the card information for any transactions, including online purchases.



: Canceling a physical employee card also cancels its digital counterpart.

Manage your card

Brex cards are the tools that you use to spend on your account, and can be issued to users of any role type. We offer each of your team members one employee card that can either be physical or digital, and a virtual card for every spend limit they have assigned to them.

Our employee cards are perfect for your day-to-day spend while you’re out operating your business. Employee cards can be physical or digital, meaning that they can be viewed digitally in your Brex wallet. These cards are not permanently tied to a spend limit, and can be assigned to any spend limit.

Virtual cards exist solely in your Brex wallet and are permanently tied to a spend limit, which makes them the best option for recurring software and online purchases.

We offer metal cards on a very limited, case-by-case basis. We don’t have any hard qualifications we can share and there isn’t a way to request one. However, if we’ve determined that your account qualifies for one, we will reach out to let you know.

Each user on your account can issue cards for themselves, with the type of card available depending on their permissions. To learn more, please refer to

Account and card admins can also issue a card to an employee.

You can request a physical card from your Brex dashboard in four scenarios below. When requesting a physical card, you’ll be asked to confirm your delivery address and you can expect to receive your card within 3-8 business days. If you need your card sooner than this, click

If you didn’t order a physical employee card when you set up your account, you’ll see a virtual card issued to you, instead. This virtual card won’t be permanently tied to a spend limit or vendor, and you can replace the virtual card with a physical employee card by finding the card in 

. The replacement card will have the same card number as the virtual card, and updated CVV and expiration date.

After switching from reimbursement-only to card access: 

If you started out with reimbursement-only access to your company’s Brex account, but have since been given card access, you can order both a physical employee card and a virtual card at this time in 

Admins can request an employee card on behalf of another user by following the steps in 

You can issue yourself one new virtual card per spend limit assigned to you. To issue an additional virtual card for a new or existing spend limit, follow the steps below.

If you’ve requested a physical card, you’ll be asked to input the address where you want the card shipped to. This can be a domestic or international address (we ship cards to most international addresses).



To get a Brex card, international founders will need to apply for a Brex business account, or have an existing US bank account.

Incorrectly formatted addresses are one of the top reasons for undelivered physical cards. Please review the suggestions below for suggestions on how to enter your address.

 Make sure to include the secondary address, especially if the delivery location doesn’t have a central delivery address. If you're shipping a card to an office or apartment building, remember to include the floor, suite, or apartment number.

Do not add anything other than primary or secondary addresses to the address fields. The cardholder name and company will be added automatically to the shipping information above the address fields.

Don't add ATTN or ℅ to secondary address:

 An ATTN descriptor must be above a primary address. If added to the secondary address it will get appended below the primary address which may affect the deliverability of the package.

Special characters such as double spaces, asterisks, periods, parentheses, quotation marks, colons, semi-colons, apostrophes, at-symbols, or ampersands should not be used in the address. Hyphens may be added in a ZIP-4 code or in the primary address number when necessary. Spaces before or after hyphens should be removed.

Mail sent to a private mailbox must include the private mailbox number or identifier. The identifier should be prefixed with PMB or the # sign. Failure to add this increases the chance that the package will not be delivered.

Make sure you choose the correct country that the card’s being shipped to so the address can be formatted correctly.

If you need to have a card shipped to India, we’ll ask you to fill out KYC information that FedEx needs, which includes entering the following:

Tracking number: You can find your card’s tracking number by following the steps further down on this article.

Mobile number: A local number from India where you can receive a one-time password (OTP).

Email ID: The email address associated with your account where we’ll send a one-time password (OTP).

Once you’ve confirmed your OTP, upload any requested documents. You’ll receive a reference number to make edits to your submission. If you have questions, please contact FedEx directly. You can find contact information on fedex.com or in the email notification.



 FedEx may apply a penalty fee if you do not provide the requested documents within 30 days of arrival.

Your physical Brex card will arrive within 3-8 business days after you or a team member orders it. You can use your virtual card to make purchases in the meantime by adding it to your virtual wallet. See the 

section of this article for the process.

If you need your card sooner than this, click

A card shipped with expedited shipping anywhere within the U.S should arrive within 3-5 business days with the following exception:

 If you need to cancel your physical card’s shipment, please reach out to Brex Support as soon as possible. We generally have up until 11 am PT on the day the card is requested to cancel the shipment.

Upon receiving your physical card in the mail, you’ll have three options to activate it:

You can view your card details, including your full card number, your CVV, and the billing address tied to your card in both the Brex app and dashboard.



: Before you can view your card’s number, expiration date, and CVV, you’ll need to add brex.com and token-manager.brexapis.com to your internet provider’s allowlist.

You can tell whether or not a card is exclusive to a single spend limit based on the color of its icon. If the icon is of a white card, the card was permanently assigned to a spend limit when it was created. If the icon is of a black or gold card, you can reassign the card to a different spend limit.

Account and card admins can view the broad details of cards owned by other users on their account.



 For security purposes, you’ll only be able to see the details of your own cards. Account and card admins can see the last four digits of other users’ cards, but not the full card details, regardless of the user’s role type.

General card details and expenses tied to a card

, search the name of the user. Alternatively, you can search all cards by the last four digits of the card and filter cards by card status.



You’ll be able to view the last four digits of the associated card and its status. Click the cardholder’s name to increase a limit, lock, rename, replace, or cancel the card, as well as view all associated expenses.

You can also filter results in the 

 tab by the last four digits of a specific card.

Select the spend limit for which you’d like to review the associated cards.



. You’ll get an overview of all cards currently assigned to a spend limit, the cardholder, the status of the spend limit, and the card type.

You can also filter your results by specific card details, including card status, and card type, or search by user, card name, and the last four digits of a specific card.

Account admins, card admins, and cardholders can see a card’s activity log, which lists events such as when the card was issued, when it was activated, if/when it had a PIN assigned to it, and locking/unlocking history. Each action will also list the name of the user who carried it out.

To view your own card’s activity log, follow these steps:



In the card detail pane, you will see recent activity, including the date.

Account and card admins can see the history of other users' cards by following these steps:



Your primary card refers to the default card that you see the details of when you open your Brex app. If you only have one assigned Brex card, it will be set as your primary card by default — but if you have more than one assigned Brex card, you can switch any of them to act as your primary.

You can add your Brex Mastercard to various virtual wallet services, including your Apple, Google, or Samsung wallet. Visa is not supported at this time.

You have two options for adding Brex cards to Apple Pay.

Once your card is in your Apple wallet, you’ll receive a verification code that you can use for confirmation. If you don’t receive your code, try removing the card from your Apple Wallet and adding it again.

After you’ve finished adding your card to your Apple Wallet, you can use your card immediately in all apps and at certain retail locations with Apple Pay.

You can add your Brex card to either Google Pay or Samsung Pay by copying your card details from your Brex app and inputting them into your preferred virtual wallet. Once your card is added to your Google Pay, you’ll receive a verification code that you can use for confirmation. If you don’t receive your code, try removing the card and adding it again.

If you plan to use your Brex card in China, adding your card to WeChat Pay has a higher success rate compared to using your card at a terminal. You can do this by following these steps:



 Enter your card number, select the type of card, choose the organization it belongs to, fill in your card information, and add your personal information.



 Verify the card number, expiration date, CVV, and the billing address.



You can also use Alipay or Apple Pay for success with local Chinese vendors.

If you’ll be transacting with your Brex card in India, you might consider adding your card to 

 app for better success.

This is done by setting up a tourist wallet by verifying yourself in-person at any of Cheq’s partner branches across India. Make sure to bring your passport and Indian visa for successful registration. You can find more information 

This feature is only available to citizens of G20 nations and non-resident Indian citizens.

When your physical card’s expiration date comes around, it’ll be time to 

. We’ll email you 60 days in advance, and send you regular reminders from then until you’ve issued yourself a replacement.

Brex card overview

Creating a dedicated card for each of your vendors is one of the easiest ways to control spending and simplify card management, because it lets you set granular spend controls on a per-vendor basis and manage each of their controls independently. For example, if you need to to lock or replace one of your cards, it only impacts spend with one vendor, while you can continue to spend with all your other vendors as normal.

Whether you’re a new Brex applicant or an existing customer, our team can help you transition your vendor spend to our platform and set up dedicated cards for each one.

We’ll assess your uploaded statement to determine which vendors can put Brex cards on file for recurring payments.

To transition vendor spend from another platform to Brex, upload a card statement from non-Brex platforms.

If you already have your vendors established in your Brex account, but want to assign a dedicated vendor card to each, upload a Brex card statement.

Create dedicated cards and update details

Once you’ve added your vendors and Brex determines which vendors can put Brex cards on file for recurring payments, admins can create and apply a dedicated card to each vendor by clicking 

You can also assign an existing card by selecting the corresponding cardholder and spend limit.

You’ll see an overview of all vendors added to your account, including their migration status and annual spend.



: If you no longer need to migrate a vendor, click the trash icon to remove them. You can click 

at the top of the page to add more vendors.

 Choose a user in the cardholder cell to create a card for them and task them to save the card details with the vendor.



This user should have access to the vendor login details to update the payment information.

We’ll automatically suggest a spend limit, which you can edit for that specific vendor. If you’re the cardholder, once you click 

, we’ll create a new virtual card for that vendor.

Moving vendor spend to Brex cards

Brex cards were designed to be used from anywhere, without the need to inform us of your plans.

Your transactions won’t be blocked just because they’re taking place in a new or international location, as long as spend falls within the restrictions of our Platform Agreement. Feel free to keep spending on your Brex card during your travels.

The US government has responded to Russian military actions in Ukraine with a set of sanctions against Russia. These new laws apply to all US persons and companies, including Brex. Additionally,

Using your Brex card internationally

Our partnership with Navan combines Brex's payment solutions with Navan's travel and expense management capabilities. With BrexPay for Navan, we automatically create a new virtual card for every booking, reconciling your end of month travel report against your card statement with 100% accuracy. Every swipe will be properly allocated to an employee, trip, and other custom metadata that used to organize the expense in accounting.

Physical cards issued through Navan will automatically enforce Navan policy and show transactions in Navan for real-time expense management. After you’ve set up the integration, you and your team can request physical Brex cards by following these steps:

Admins can enable Navan’s physical card policy following the steps below, which will let your team request cards for themselves.



 Expense Admin > Company > Settings > Card Programs > and click Enable Card Management

If you use Navan expense and want to import all your Brex transactions into Navan, you can enable expense sharing from the Brex dashboard. This gives Navan read-only access to the transaction data across all the cards in your Brex account, including those not created by Navan, for use in Navan Expense. Expenses will automatically map to the correct user in Navan by email address / name.



 Set up BrexPay for Navan within Navan.



Click your name in the top right of the dashboard.



Allow Navan to access all transaction data.

You can also disconnect the Navan integration from here by clicking 

. Disconnecting the connection with Navan will result in all pending Navan booked trips on Brex cards and Brex physical cards issued through Navan to stop working.

With this partnership, you can use Brex’s global corporate card program to centrally pay for all your bookings through Navan. When your employee makes a booking in Navan, it will immediately impact your Brex credit limit. Once the transaction clears, it'll post to the appropriate entity’s statement in 

 Pending transactions do not appear on your billing statement.

Transactions made during your existing workflows will still appear in your 

 and you'll continue to pay your statement via your Brex dashboard. To learn how to pay statements through Brex, please refer to 

to download a Navan Connect Report from Navan that includes reconciliation data

 When downloading the report, use the same date range as your Brex statement period. Your Brex Statement will also include all transactions made with Navan. To filter for only Navan Travel transactions, select 

 and download a PDF or CSV of the results. This report will 100% reconcile with your Brex transactions.

To verify this, sign into your Brex dashboard, go to 

, filter for the same date range you used in Navan Connect, filter for the Navan Travel user, and click 

 in your preferred format.

You’ll see a unique key that binds both statements. The 

column in your Brex statement will reconcile across the same date range for your Brex program.

If you have trouble with reconciliation, check your date range, entity, and Brex card program.

If you have multiple entities set up with Navan, you can map those entities to your Brex entities. To do so, sign in to your Navan dashboard, go to 

. This option will only show up if you have more than one entity.

If the entity you’re looking for is not available in the drop-down, you can choose 

 in the dropdown to share that entity over to Brex. If the entities aren’t verified, click 

 to redirect you to the Brex Dashboard, where you can add more entities or finish verification.

Transactions will post to the correct Brex entity statement based on the user’s entity in Navan. You can bill in local currency in 50+ countries and 30+ currencies, reducing your use of FX. Our team can help you set up multi-entity billing to set up individual statements or to pay your bill back in local currency.

BrexPay for Navan

Brex cards can be used by your team to pay for work-related purchases. Since your team members will rely on their various Brex cards to enable them in their day to day, it’s important to understand how a Brex card functions.

All Brex cards are credit cards. We report your payment history on these cards to business credit bureaus so that Brex can help you build business credit.

Payment is typically due every day for accounts with daily statements. However, funds aren’t immediately withdrawn whenever you transact. Instead, all of your cleared transactions are added to your statement, which is paid automatically according to your account type (daily or monthly).

A key difference that sets the Brex card apart from other credit cards is its dynamic limit structure. Rather than maintaining a fixed credit limit, the limit on your Brex card will update in relation to your cash balances.

The Brex credit card is not categorized as a secured credit card. This is because we don’t require collateral or security deposits — though your Brex card does have several benefits that you wouldn’t find with a standard unsecured credit card. Most notably, Brex cards can help you build credit with on-time payments for your statement balance.

As an extension of this, Brex credit cards cannot be used to withdraw cash at ATMs.

Our partnership with Zip integrates Brex cards with Zip's procurement and intake software. With Brex for Zip, you can create a new virtual card to pay for purchases directly within your Zip workflow. Brex for Zip streamlines the procurement process, maximizing rewards and reconciling faster.

To utilize this integration, you will need an active Brex and Zip account. If you are not a Brex customer yet, please see

As a Zip admin, you can get started with Brex for Zip by following the steps below:


 Log into your Brex dashboard to complete the setup.

 Once set up, proceed to map your subsidiary in Zip to your Brex account. Click
